Heather’s Art~ 2016 Year in Review

Standard

Hello my friends! Thank you all for sticking with me, as we enter another year! Since I started in 2012 I’ve gained 172 followers! Thank you all so much for your friendship! Here is my year in review for 2016! Other than birthday cards for folks, I really haven’t done many paintings this year. I guess I’ve gotten a little discouraged when it comes to fine art. People don’t seem to be buying them like they used to. So I’m trying to express my art in other directions. I’m trying to become a book illustrator. However, I’m still making hand carved jewelry and selling them on my mom and dad’s Etsy shops:

Here are a few examples of what I’ve made this year:

We also are selling some vintage Barbie’s and accessories in our Cottage Made Gifts, shop. They were found in the attic of a very old house and kept safe in a Barbie Case.

This year, I’ve been working hard on becoming a book illustrator. I’m also trying to self publish my own children’s book called, The Monster. I’m hoping to get it published by March of 2017.

Thank you guys again! Praying for many blessings this New Year!

Hand Carved Starfish~ Necklace

Standard

I’m so excited to have this Starfish pendant finished! It was my first 3D carving, and was a lot of work to make. I carved little pearls all around it and a shell in the middle. It’s accented with lovely beads in the colors, green blue, brown and purple! The  starfish itself is in lovely colors of green and teal.

shepherd-and-sheep-blog

I had a lot of fun drawing this picture. Charcoal always gives such depth to a drawing and pops it out.

I always love drawing Shepherds and sheep it brings many Bible verses to my mind.

Thanks for looking!

Luk_12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Luk_15:4  What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
Luk_15:6  And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Joh_10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Joh_10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

I’m very excited and hope that it will find its way into someone’s heart and home! Its available in my Dad’s Etsy shop at:stinnettstudio.etsy.com .

A Woman that Feares the Lord

Standard

a woman that fears the Lord 3 blog copy

Pro 31:30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

This is a card I made for one of my friend’s birthday. I hope she’ll like it and that it looks enough like her; I’m having to go by memory. 🙂

New Year, New Hand Carved Necklaces! 2016

Standard

Here are my latest necklaces! I really enjoyed making these whimsical pieces.  In order to create their rustic, antiqued look, I had my dad wire brush them for me. I really like how the wood grain pops out. I then painted them and put a clear finish. I recently bought some beautiful glass beads on sale and was able to add them to some of my necklaces. The winter light doesn’t seem to be doing my pendants justice. The purple is much more vivid in real life on my butterfly. but oh well… 😉

These Necklaces can be found in our Etsy shop at: Cottage Made Gifts

Hand Carved Rustic, Steampunk Butterfly Necklace

Standard

This is one of my latest creations! I carved this butterfly out of Juniper wood. I had a lot of fun creating its design and my family helped me choose the colors. I tried to make this piece look steampunk, or pirate like. 😉 I have several other pieces in the same style ready for carving! Me and my family are on a roll and are really enjoying creating necklaces for our little shop!
