Heather’s Art~ 2016 Year in Review

Standard

Hello my friends! Thank you all for sticking with me, as we enter another year! Since I started in 2012 I’ve gained 172 followers! Thank you all so much for your friendship! Here is my year in review for 2016! Other than birthday cards for folks, I really haven’t done many paintings this year. I guess I’ve gotten a little discouraged when it comes to fine art. People don’t seem to be buying them like they used to. So I’m trying to express my art in other directions. I’m trying to become a book illustrator. However, I’m still making hand carved jewelry and selling them on my mom and dad’s Etsy shops:

Cottage Made Gifts

Stinnett Studio

Here are a few examples of what I’ve made this year:

We also are selling some vintage Barbie’s and accessories in our Cottage Made Gifts, shop. They were found in the attic of a very old house and kept safe in a Barbie Case.

This year, I’ve been working hard on becoming a book illustrator. I’m also trying to self publish my own children’s book called, The Monster. I’m hoping to get it published by March of 2017.

Thank you guys again! Praying for many blessings this New Year!

Hand Carved Starfish~ Necklace

Standard

I’m so excited to have this Starfish pendant finished! It was my first 3D carving, and was a lot of work to make. I carved little pearls all around it and a shell in the middle. It’s accented with lovely beads in the colors, green blue, brown and purple! Theย  starfish itself is in lovely colors of green and teal.

New Year, New Hand Carved Necklaces! 2016

Standard

Here are my latest necklaces! I really enjoyed making these whimsical pieces.ย  In order to create their rustic, antiqued look, I had my dad wire brush them for me. I really like how the wood grain pops out. I then painted them and put a clear finish. I recently bought some beautiful glass beads on sale and was able to add them to some of my necklaces. The winter light doesn’t seem to be doing my pendants justice. The purple is much more vivid in real life on my butterfly. but oh well… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy New Year! 2015 Year in Review

Standard

Happy New Year! This is my year in review for 2015.

This year was very busy and full of new experiences both good and bad. This summer, Me and my family evacuated for the first time from our house, because of the wild fires that swept through our community; destroying many of our distant neighbors houses. We are very thankful that when we returned, our house was spared and our neighborhood was kept safe. Through different challenges that we faced this year, God was there through it all and keeps strengthening our faith every day. We just continue to turn and put our trust in Jesus. God has blessed us with the different tools and abilities to start our little shop on Etsy.com, and are having a lot of fun creating new things to put in it.

My New Year’s Resolution is to have a closer relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; following his will for my life and obeying his commands. And like everyone else, I want to lose the weight that I have put on during the Holidays!

I’m hoping that as we continue to make handmade things that we can eventually sell enough to make a living. I also hope to keep my illustration blog going and perhaps illustrate people’s stories, blog banners, etc… My other dream is to make graphic novels and finish illustrating my own story.

Thank you all for your encouraging support and sticking with me these years of blogging!

Wishing for a blessed New Year!
